With ITK release 5.2 (2021) AI intergration has been introduced into the ITK filter pipeline.
The focus is lying on the Medical Open Network for AI (MONAI), which is a framework for providing labeling, segmentation and related classification algorithms driven by AI.
AI enables very promising techniques, the focus of this lecture, however, is not on the actual bleeding-edge segmentation algorithms, but rather on the general principles of the itk processing framework, which can utilize both traditional and AI methods.
