Tomography generates cross sections of an object.
- A computer tomography scanner produces cross-sections in x/y direction
- The scanned object is displaced along the z-axis
- Thus the scanner delivers a stack of gray scale images making up a volume.
The in-plane resolution mostly differs from plane-to-plane distance.
