Iso-Contouring Hardware Example

Q What is iso contouring good for in medical visualization?
For quantitative information visualization purposes!
Example: CT cross section shows density values qualitatively as greyscale values. White equals high CT values and black equals low CT values, but we cannot discover the absolute CT values from the grey scale image. To make a quantitative analysis, we can overlay the cross section with iso lines for particular Hounsfield values (e.g. −100, 0 and 500).
